About this role…

Accountant will provide financial services and will be required to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping tasks including entering data from source documents including via receipt bank, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, management reporting.
  • Produce, and complete for review, special purpose financial statements and income tax returns from source documents for sole traders or individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies.
  • Preparation of BAS, FBT and payroll tax returns.
  • Draft emails for Managers to review and send on to clients, in relation to queries or additional information required to complete the work.
  • Clearing Manager & Director review points, including making necessary changes to the work.
  • Preparation and management of fee budgets.
  • Ensure jobs are completed efficiently and effectively by meeting technical standards, deadlines and within job budget with complete working papers.
  • Contribute to strategies on tax planning for clients for approval by Manager/Director.
  • Compile and analyse financial information.
  • Prepare cash flow and profit and loss forecasts.
  • Preparation of correspondence to clients, including covering letters for financial statements and tax returns with specific information/recommendations to the client’s circumstances.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of common accounting systems including but not limited to MYOB Essentials, AccountRight Live and Xero.
  • Participate in internal training as required.
  • Achieve agreed targets (KPI’s).
  • Complete all jobs within the allocated hours for the job and by the due date.
  • Administrative tasks including completion of timesheets, preparation of bills and other tasks as required from time to time.
  • Other ad hoc duties as requested.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years working experience in an Australian accounting firm
  • Experience in XERO, MYOB, APS/XPA
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Deadline-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
